In this image, a County Sheriff and a Detective are disposing of drugs and drug paraphernalia from closed drug related cases. According to the article that underlined this image, the amount of drugs in the burning (from a collection of some 9 months) had a street value of between $50,000 and $100,000 and took the officers from early afternoon well into that same evening to burn.

SO, WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

For one thing, neither officer is wearing a mask; I wonder, did they have a ”very good time” doing this job? ;)

All right, all jest aside, I know for a fact that this burning took place with residences around it (admittedly, some are approximately one quarter mile away) and one has to wonder what chemicals were in the smoke from the fire? What kind of health issues could be caused by breathing the smoke from burning all those drugs and drug paraphernalia together in an open fire? Wouldn’t it be better to burn this type of material in an incinerator; perhaps one from a hospital in the region?

Come on folks, we expect better!!
